  What was going on in your life before you started working with me, and how have our coaching sessions positively impacted your life and overall wellbeing?

 

Before beginning my journey with nurse coaching, I was in a very dark place in my life. I had to quit nursing school because I could not secure any more loans to cover the tuition costs. This situation left me facing the burden of repaying the student loans I had already accumulated. I felt at fault for not completing my education and found myself placing my family in a difficult financial situation due to these overwhelming debts. My health suffered greatly as I neglected it, focusing all my energy on the various demands around me.

 

Then I decided to try nurse coaching, unsure of what it would entail or if it would even help. To my surprise, it had a significant positive impact. It offered me the chance to pause and reassess where I was directing my energy in life, enabling me to appreciate the good things I had taken for granted. This process has been about planting seeds of positivity that promise more positive outcomes for my future and my family's well-being.


 

  How was your experience of working with me? What did you like most about our coaching relationship?


My experience working with Dan was incredibly positive, primarily because he made me feel comfortable throughout the process. This comfort was pivotal to our effective collaboration. One of the critical insights I gained was learning to forgive myself for the perceived failures and to shift my focus towards what I could do moving forward. Dan helped me see that I was not alone in my struggles and that there were practical steps I could take to improve my situation. 


 

  What benefits, results, or achievements did you gain from our coaching together?

 

Although I haven't achieved everything I aspire to yet, I feel confident that I am on the right path towards a better, more positive, and grateful version of myself. One specific change I've noticed is my enhanced ability to manage stress. Dan introduced me to mindfulness techniques and goal-setting practices, which have become invaluable tools in navigating my daily challenges. I am eager to continue working with Dan and believe this will lead to significant accomplishments down the road.

 

  What new insights and learning have you discovered through this process?


The coaching process has taught me to be more mindful of where my energy is directed and to appreciate the positives in my life. I learned the importance of small, consistent changes and how they can lead to substantial improvement over time. The journey has also instilled in me a sense of resilience, encouraging me to view obstacles as opportunities for growth rather than setbacks.

 

 

   Can you compare your GI issues you were experiencing when we first started nurse coaching compared to now?

 

When I first started nurse coaching with Dan, I was struggling with frequent bloating, discomfort, and irregular digestion that really impacted my daily life. Since then, I’ve made significant changes to my diet—most notably by incorporating fermented probiotic foods like kimchi, sauerkraut, and kefir, which have made a noticeable difference in my gut health. Alongside this, I've improved my overall nutrition, become more consistent with exercise, and found better ways to manage stress. I feel more balanced, energized, and in control of my well-being than I have in a long time.

What was going on in your life before you started working with me, and how have our coaching sessions positively impacted your life and overall well being?

 

Prior to starting my coaching with Dan I was in a heightened state of stress and really looking for a new position. I was working at Enterprise when I first met Dan and was struggling with work life balance and enjoying my life on a daily basis. In the last year I was hospitalized for Bacterial Meningitis and also suffered an ACL strain while playing soccer overseas. I was in a big transition from my athletic career to a business professional and struggling with that identity crisis. The sessions with Dan have allowed me to integrate stress management strategies and weekly goal setting to my routine. He helped me to address these life concerns with real medical advice and gave me a scope of understanding what I was going through from a new perspective. This understanding and 1 on 1 coaching allowed me to feel trusted and supported. His knowledge of mind and body gave me a truer understanding of my circumstance and his coaching allowed me to take action on what was not working for me. I made specific and actionable goals related to my physical, emotional, financial, social, and occupational wellness. I was able to change jobs, reconnect with old friends, set up physiotherapy, attend chiropractic and massage, and drink more water. I was also able to attend yoga multiple times a week. He helped me to create these goals and achieve them in the 5 weeks we worked together. He helped me create an affirmation that I read morning and night to help drive change in my life and live from a state of gratitude on a daily basis. Through these changes I have been able to wake up happier, healthier, and have reinvigorated my zest for life. 

 

How was your experience of working with me? What did you like most about our coaching relationship?

I had a very positive experience working with Dan. He was relatable and knowledgeable. I respected his knowledge and this approachable demeanor allowed me to feel safe to open up about what I was going through. He made me feel safe to share, and his delivery of information was clear and concise. I really appreciated his willingness to ask me what I wanted to talk about and allowed me to bring things to the table rather than telling me what to do or steer the conversation. It felt like a friendship rather than a top down dynamic and it allowed me to take this help and move forward on my own. It gave me a sense of ownership and trust in my own capabilities. 

 

What benefits, results, or achievements did you gain from our coaching together?

Through our coaching, I gained clarity on my professional direction and confidence in my ability to pivot into a new industry. The sessions helped me distill my unique strengths, especially from my non-traditional background, and communicate them effectively in interviews and network. I walked away with a clearer strategy and a stronger sense of ownership over my path. He also sent me some meditations and gave me tools to reduce my stress during my workday and by increasing my water intake and making small enhancements to my daily routine which have impacted my overall wellbeing.

 

What new insights and learning have you discovered through this process?

 

I realized how valuable it is to own my story instead of trying to fit a mold. I learned the power of asking better questions, both of myself and in professional conversations, which has made me more intentional and self aware. One of the most valuable insights was realizing how much power I have to make changes despite big life transitions and physical setbacks. Dan helped to shift my perspective, offering a blend of emotional support and practical tools that made everything feel manageable. I learned to trust my own instincts and capabilities again.

 

 Who would you recommend my coaching to?

I'd recommend Dan's coaching to anyone going through a major life or career transition - especially athletes, high-performers, or individuals recovering from a health challenge. - What was going on in your life before you started working with me, and how have our coaching sessions positively impacted your life and overall wellbeing?

 

I was feeling stuck and uncertain about my path in nursing, especially now that I am 2 semesters away from getting my PMHNP. I felt like I may have made a wrong choice. In general, I was feeling a lack of motivation for everything in my life from the gym to music practice and, of course nursing.

 

Working with Dan helped me reconnect with my values and what I hope to accomplish.  This gave me the drive to move forward and recognize my strengths in each area that I was doubting myself.

 

 How was your experience of working with me? What did you like most about our coaching relationship?

 

I felt like Dan understood my struggles and he helped me break things down into smaller, more manageable, steps.

 

 What benefits, results, or achievements did you gain from our coaching together?

Today I feel like I am on the right path towards a career as a PMHNP.  Dan also helped me reconnect with music (I am also a musician), which helps me in all areas of my life.

 

 What new insights and learning have you discovered through this process?

 

The importance of stepping back and looking at the larger picture. I can’t simply focus on work; I need to be mindful in all areas of my life, whether it be music, health, self-care or relationships.

What was going on in your life before you started working with me, and how have our coaching sessions positively impacted your life and overall wellbeing?

I’ve been having a hard time with my personal relationship. Since receiving coaching I’ve been able to maintain a  meditation schedule. This helps me rest every night. I have also been able to assert myself in my relationship. I am now setting boundaries and focusing on myself. 

 

 How was your experience of working with me? What did you like most about our coaching relationship?

My experience has been positive thus far. I feel like Dan has given me a safe space to express myself.

Currently gaining more confidence to speak up for myself. 

 What new insights and learning have you discovered through this process?

I have discovered that 30 mins of moving my body is beneficial. I have also learned that meditation is not as hard as I thought it would be and I love it.

What was going on in your life before you started working with me, and how have our coaching sessions positively impacted your life and overall wellbeing?  How was your experience of working with me? What did you like most about our coaching relationship?

My life was all over the place with where I wanted to dedicate my time and energy to that I felt overwhelmed and second guessing my choices. Unable to forgive myself for “going about something wrong”.

My experience working with you (Dan!) was a little bit intimidating at first because I was new to this and unsure of what to expect. After the first session I was put at ease because I was comfortable with how easy it was to speak to you about some issues I have been going through and you were able to reassure me about progress I have been making. Helping me to understand that I have been shortsighted in my achievements in my social, romantic, professional and spiritual life. I like that you were knowledgeable in different aspects of holistic and homeopathic medicine/studies and were able to incorporate it into my goals.

 

 What benefits, results, or achievements did you gain from our coaching together?

 

The biggest result was in my spiritual life through the goals of praying more, being more social and open to failing. I became a member of my church and the Knights of Columbus. I even helped out during the pre-Easter mass for an entire week straight.

 

 What new insights and learning have you discovered through this process?

 

Through the coaching I discovered that I was already becoming the version of myself that I was striving to be but too caught up on my “failures”. Through the coaching I was able to understand that I can always bounce back and I don’t have to let the past have a great, or any, hold on me.

 

 Who would you recommend my coaching to?

 

 I would recommend your coaching to anyone who wants to have a knowledgeable health professional assist them in their weekly and lifetime goals. So long as they are willing to be completely honest with how well they were able to follow their goals and what had set them back.
